It is our mission to support the job seeker in obtaining a quality and exciting job in an industry that they enjoy. Having a job gives purpose, confidence and independence.
Your Presence Matters
Being employed, volunteering or going back to school all lead to living a life of purpose. Living a life of purpose has several benefits, including happiness and well-being, stronger personal relationships, better sleep and promotes physical and mental health. How can you not feel a sense of purpose when you show up to work and walk into the room and someone says " Hi, It's good to see you today. I'm so glad you are here." Your presence matters!
Taking pride in our work and feeling connected to a larger, shared goal is something that drives many of us on a daily basis. This is just as true for people with disabilities. Supportive Employment Services provide assistance for people with disabilities in earning and retaining competitive jobs in integrated work environments. The Supported Employment program operates on the principle that everyone has the right to work and build professional relationships. These benefits can have a significant impact on long-term well-being, happiness, and independence.
Navigating the application for job seeking support can be overwhleming. We are here to help. Contact Pauline Bonifazi, CHT CEO
The job seeker will need to enroll with DVR - Division of Vocational Rehabilitation - to get started in the job seeking process.
At CHT, we can walk you through these first steps so that this process doesn't get overwhelming.

Once the job seeker has applied, a counselor at DVR will be contact to complete an assessment. The assessment is an important step in determining if the job seeker is eligible and what job level and area of interest they may have. Once the assessment is complete, the job seeker is assigned to a job coaching agency like CHT. The job seeker can request to work with the job coaching agency of their choice.
The job seeker will start the intake process with their agency of choic. At CHT, we ask important questions about abilities, goals, fears and communication styles. Our vision is to support the job seeker in integrating into a new job setting with confidence and readiness. At CHT, we take this step with details and care.
During this step, the job seeker will learn how to create a resume, find the right outfit to wea to the interview and how to complete an interview with self-awareness and self-pride.
The hard work of prepping for and worrying about the job interview is over. Now the fun part begins. The job seeker will be accompanied by the job coach during their first days of employment.
During this time, the coach will support the job seeker with understanding the rules and responsibilities of the job position. The coach will act as a liaison between the employer and staff and the job seeker all the while, coaching the job seeker to self-advocate and ask job related questions.
Our mission at CHT is to support the independence of the job seeker after teaching them the interpersonal tools needed to be successful.
Each job seeker learns at a different pace. Their comfort zones build when they decide. Therefore, we do not like to put a timeframe on the phase- out monitoring- from- a- distance step of the process.
When the job seeker feels they are confident enough to continue their employment with little involvement from the job coach, the phase out - monitoring step is implemented. During this phase, the job coach will call to check in on the job seeker rather than visit them at the place of employment. This will continue until the job seeker is no longer in need of a job coach.
